The company is named for Burro Creek, a tributary of the Bill Williams River in Northwestern Arizona. It was the first name that came to mind when someone asked the name of our production company. Michael has crossed the big silver bridge over Burro Creek, between Wickenburg and Kingman, Arizona, something like a thousand times and he wrote the last scene of The Last Cowboy in his head after crossing the bridge on the way to see his grandkids in Kingman. The screen play was optioned three weeks later.
We weren't going to start another company, but damn it, we've got all this great new digital gear now; the creative juices are still flowing; and there are clients to take care off, so here we are.
The back story is that Michael has 55 years in radio/TV/publishing and movie/video production. He's seen all the technology changes and is ever thankful for cool new tools that help all his creativity to come to life. Mike has also written six books -- five biographies and his own Don't Retire, which he doesn't plan to do anytime soon. He is a former travel editor for Golf Magazine.
Julie is a former magazine editor; graphics service bureau owner and a damn fine writer and cake decorator. She's also a heck of a bean counter (mizer) as well. But, she does what it takes and you'll even see her name as Key Grip on some of our credit rolls.
